As you know, Texas has been in the worst drought since the 1950’s.
Nearly every county in the state has been under a burn ban for several months – until yesterday.
My home county and a few more surrounding us decided that the smidgen of rain that happened a few days before. Continue reading

Assurance Insurance
Last night an insurance sales lady stopped by and after a few minutes of idle chit-chat, we got down to business.
During the presentation she showed a list of names of those in the area that have insurance with her company.
Linda noticed one name and said, “She died in July!” Continue reading
You can do all things.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13
I have come to accept that I cannot do anything!
I cannot stop a divorce.
I cannot preach someone out of hell or into heaven.
I cannot give you peace.
I cannot bring you revival.
I cannot fill you with the Holy Spirit! Continue reading
The technology of salvation
I have an iPhone 4S, which comes with Siri.
Siri is a speech-recognition computer application. It has both speech input and output, meaning you can speak to it, and it can speak back to you.
You speak to Siri to ask it questions and give it commands, such as small tasks that you’d like it to complete. Continue reading
Not all swords are equal!
Something caught my eye as I read this in Proverbs; For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey and her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, her steps lay hold of hell. Lest you ponder her path of life — Her ways are unstable; you do not know them. Prov 5:3-6
What catches my eye? Continue reading
Rocks from the sky
Late yesterday afternoon it barely missed us, though it was still 195,000 miles away, flying between our planet and the moon.
But in the vast expanse of the universe, that’s rather close.
Asteroid 2005YU55 has been on the radar of astronomers for quite a while. Continue reading
My sister – my friend
The apostle Paul told the young pastor, Timothy, do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity. 1 Tim 5:1-2
As an only child I’ve always suffered with the brotherly love idea since I do not know the love of a brother. Continue reading
Partying in Heaven
I was in a cemetery when a headstone caught my eye.
It was adorned with unopened beer cans; but it doesn’t end there.
Engraved on the headstone was “partying in heaven!”
I guess I should not be too surprised. Continue reading
You can’t stop God!
A board of county commissioners in North Carolina can no longer pray in Jesus’ name!
For years, the board has extended an open invitation to religious leaders from the community to volunteer a prayer before its twice-monthly meetings, asking only that the invocations would not be an effort to proselytize or belittle other faith or belief. Continue reading
Read with your eyes – Read with your ears
Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them. 1 Tim 4:13 NLT
Last night I was reminded of an important part of my relationship with God – reading.
Sure, I read the Bible every day but last night’s Bible study reminded me of the importance of it. Continue reading
