Let’s think back to a time when there was no television, no iPhones, no radio, no satellite communications, no video games, no computers, no cars or trucks, no electricity, and no steam or internal combustion engines.
Look around you and think of all the things you would now do without.
Perhaps that’s a frightening thought but while reading in Exodus, I thought of all the things that distract us from God, and we are easily distracted by some of the items listed earlier.
My mind will often drift away from God through the use of television or a gps and I must bring myself back to the reality to not let these items become a god to me.
The question is; what is left when we remove or at the very least, keep these things in check with the rest of life?
I think we could get closer to God.
Moses lived in the majesty of Egypt, learning the best there was at that time and yet he did without all of the things I have mentioned.
His ability to draw closer to God was uninhibited by technology as we know it.
Moses came to a point where he said to God, “Please, show me Your glory.” Ex 33:18
He said this when there was nothing to distract him. It was just God and Moses on the mountain.
There is no way we will rid ourselves of all the things I have mentioned earlier. So to keep from being distracted we must use them to the glory of God.
I will use the electricity and a light bulb to read my Bible. (Sure beats a candle or coal oil lamp)
I will use my communication devices, like Facebook, to teach, preach, or send God’s word.
I will use my vehicles to go to church, to be with other Christians, or travel to help someone in the name of Jesus.
I will use what I have to give God glory and I will distance myself from all of it to see His glory.
Lord, show me Your glory!
we MUST keep our focus of our Lord God

All of the mentioned things are like medicen. Some folks will have nothing to do thith them. The reality is we would not have them if God had not OKed it. It is up to us what we do with them, use them to bring glory to Christ or for selfish reasons.
