Moan, Groan, Pop, and Creak!

If you are a homeowner then you know there is always something to do to keep your house up and running.

There is always sweeping and mopping to be done. Cleaning windows, washing the outside, painting, getting a new water heater, repairing a garage door opener, and mowing the grass are all part of home ownership.

Even if your house is brand new today you’ll be doing repairs tomorrow.

Linda remembers our house when she was a little girl. Her family would pass by on the way to town and she always said she’d live here. So our house is around 45-50 years old. And she’s showing her age. It’s more than mowing the grass and then watching the purple martin’s and hummingbirds on the porch. She’s been a good house to us but like me, she’s getting old.

Her repairs are expensive and so are mine!

I am reminded of a scripture.

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 2 Cor 5:1-3

I know the older I get the more I desire that final home in the heavens. A home in which I will feel no aches and pains nor repair no roofs or mow the grass.

It is an eternal home created to last forever and I speak of both my body and my habitation.

While my body and home here are getting costly – that one there is already paid for by the precious blood of Christ.

I shall live here and serve my Savior as long as He desires and I may moan and groan a bit while doing it, but I know that glorious day will appear when I shall moan, groan, pop, or creak any longer. (and neither will my home)

  1. these fingers are creaking and knuckles are popping as I write this response, but I do agree with you and also am looking forward to that precious day when I shall see Him face-to-face!
