What God hates – what God loves!

What does God hate? That question is easily answered by reading The Word.

These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren. Prov 6:16-19

That’s quite a list. There are many things not listed – greed, gluttony, adultery, homosexuality, eating shellfish, and so on.
I believe the purpose of listing sin is to demonstrate that all are sinners. If the list consisted of gluttony and adultery then I would consider myself righteous according to that list since I may not be a glutton or an adulterer.

But these seven things touch everyone in one way or another.
Have you ever been proud or told a lie?
Have you schemed doing something wrong or been a false witness?
It is quick to see that each person has done something that God says He absolutely hates!

Enough about that – let me ask another question: What does God love?
That doesn’t require seven answers – only one.
God loves YOU!
Rom 5:8 says, God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
That is to say, while you were committing any of the seven things He hates – He died for YOU!
That kind of love should get your attention.
To love someone while they are doing horrible things is one thing. To turn around and give your life for the same person and take the blame for them is another.
This is exactly what Christ has done for you.
He deserves your devotion!
