The Lion

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

To be stalked by a lion is a scary thing. For all their size and bulk, they are stealthy and blend into the environment well.
If a lion sets his sight on you, he is relentless to prey on you.
Peter describes the devil as a roaring lion – stealthy, quick, and relentless.
Let me give you a different scenario.
In Revelation 5:5, Jesus is described as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
I propose that the devil wants to disguise himself as this Lion of Judah. The devil wants to appear to you as a savior and messiah.
This is how he devours you – with trickery and false intentions. He pretends to love and care, all the while looking to destroy you.
He will befriend you and purr at your feet right before he sinks his teeth into you.
Be sober – clear minded!
Be vigilant – ever watchful and alert.
Do not let the adversary sneak up on you!

  1. To me it looks like this is what has happened to many Americans. Of course they’d have no understanding of “The Lion”. Still it hurts my heart to see so many deceived. Yet I love the testimonies of muslims coming to Christ. I’ve not heard of that happening here though. I do see many Americans supporting muslims. They are so without the facts of what that in tails. As saints of God could we’ve banded together and made a difference many years ago or was things just to unfold as they have?
