But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2 Tim 2:23-26
I am no expert but I really try to avoid spiritual and secular arguments. I have never liked conflict and disputes.
Paul had much to say about that subject in today’s scripture. He plainly says a servant of the Lord must not quarrel!
His instruction includes gentleness, patience, and humility, while taking advantage of the situation and making it a teachable moment.
I believe you must back up what you teach with the Bible. To do this you must know and understand what the scripture says.
Of course, not everyone sees scripture the same way, which is why there are so many denominations. But cast aside the differences of doctrine and keep your eyes on the foundation of Jesus. He brings us together.
God gives His word, not to argue over, but to convict of sin and bring people to repentance.
