Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 1 Tim 5:17
October is Clergy Appreciation Month. My church usually does great at showing their appreciation. In years past the church honored Linda and I with surprise parties, cards, food, sweets, and offerings.
This year they really went over the top.
First, there was the day we were going out to eat and we drove by the church just in time to see several ladies putting out sheep cut-outs on the church lawn with signs about how much the “flock” loved the shepherds Pastor’s Tim and Linda.
I’m not sure who was more surprised – Linda and I or the group we caught trying to surprise us.
They also placed a bulletin board in the church with a pasture background and sheep-shaped notepads for members to write notes.
Most of the time I’m not surprised at what my church family does but Sunday changed that.
After the end of service they handed Linda and I a package. Inside was an iPad Pro!
I was speechless and that does not happen often.
Linda has wanted me to get one for a couple of months and I’ve resisted spending the money.
Now I do not need to!
To my church family I say thank you! All of you made this a special month.
As the Apostle Paul said to the church at Philippi, I say to you: I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, Phil 1:3-7
