You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. James 5:8
I’m quite late with the Morning Thought today. I was rather busy and perhaps testing your patience.
Now, you could complain and moan and groan about not getting it earlier but it did not change anything.
Complaints change very little but patience changes everything.
James used an illustration about the farmer planting crops. He plants but there is very little he can do to cause the crops to produce. Sunshine and rain both appear at their leisure. Farmer Brown can build a fence to keep the deer away. He can weed the rows or spray a pesticide.
He cannot make the plants grow faster or the fruit ripen any quicker.
It’s a fast-paced world where everything is overnight or instant.
The salvation of your family and friends is neither. Sometimes it takes years of praying and preaching to reap a reward of salvation.
Be patient by keeping yourself occupied. It’s true a watched pot never boils. Get busy with something else and it boils in no time at all.
Be patient by enjoying the scenery along the way. Grandma’s house is so far away. Not if you look out the window and enjoy the landscape as it passes by.
Be patient with an attitude of gratitude. Instead of complaining about things not happening, praise God for the wonderful things that have happened.
