And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. 1 Samuel 8:7
As Samuel aged, the people realized his sons would take his place. So they asked for a king to rule over them like the others nations.
This displeased Samuel but he prayed to God about it.
I keep God’s answer in mind quite often.
There is nothing more disheartening than asking someone if they want to accept Jesus as Savior and the response is, “not now.”
I feel as if I did something wrong – that I somehow failed.
Yet God’s word says they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me.
It is still very disturbing to know someone rejected salvation and I pray they change their decision.
Rejecting Jesus is a decision a person can live with but it’s not a decision they want to die with.
