Proverbs 27:23
Be diligent to know the state of your flocks,
And attend to your herds;

I was quoted this verse many years ago by another pastor. It’s quite a good proverb and advice to live by as a pastor.

It’s a difficult task at times to pastor and keep a full-time job. I imagine it’s difficult for a full-time pastor with a thousand members.
Sometimes the flock needs to know about itself and help the pastor out.

I recall an elderly lady getting onto me for not coming to visit her in the hospital. I told her I never heard she was in the hospital. So sometimes the flock needs to let the shepherd know what is going on.
