Isaiah 1:19-20
If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Though very literal for the Hebrews, it has a similar spiritual meaning for us today.
Obedience to God yields His blessing for you.
Refusal of God is sin. Rebellion against God is sin. Rebellion is the sin of Lucifer, the devil.
You place yourself in the company of the devil with your refusal and rebellion.
What is the penalty for sin? Only one – death!
In reality, sinners are devoured by the sword. Not a sword of sharpened metal but the sword of God’s word.
It is written the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Heb 4:12-13
His word cuts everyone to the heart – now unto salvation or later unto condemnation.
The choice is yours.
Are you willing to become obedient to God?
