Matthew 2:3-6
When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
It’s hard to say what troubled Herod the most – the fact the wise men did not arrive to present gifts to him or they came looking for a King, that isn’t born into his family.
He asks his own wise men where the Birth takes place.
He is told, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ” Matthew 2:5-6
Herod knows the place to find Him but doesn’t go himself.
He attempts to con the wise men to return and give him more details on the exact location.
Inside, Herod only wants to destroy this threat to his rule.
Many people are just like Herod.
They know where to find out about Jesus but refuse to open a Bible or attend church to find out more.
They are troubled by the Gospel of Jesus and seek to destroy any memory of Him and continue ruling their own lives.
If Herod rejected Jesus then he died and awaits judgment unto his own condemnation.
If you reject Jesus, the same awaits for you.
Don’t become like Herod.
Become like the wise men and seek Christ.
