Matthew 6:1
“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
There are some people that just like to boast about what they do. They talk about how they helped this person or what they did for that person.
Charity is not only in giving money or goods to someone. It also deals with the sharing the Gospel. I knew a man one time that was constantly testifying before the church about how many people he prayed for and talked to about Christ while a having check-ups at the hospital.
Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you. Matthew 6:2
But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Matthew 6:3
I’ve known ministers to comment on the quality of their own sermon.
There’s truth in the proverb let another man praise you, and not your own mouth;
a stranger, and not your own lips. Prov 27:2
So if you do a good deed just keep it to yourself!
