Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Jesus began teaching on prayer emphasizing praying in secret and not using vain repetitions.
This prayer is not something to pray word for word each day but is an example of prayer in honoring God, seeking His will, giving what is needed day to day, forgiveness, and protection from evil.
I don’t believe it’s a necessity to pray for each element of this prayer. There are times you pray for forgiveness and other times you pray for protection.
Prayer should always be present in your mind and heart thus you pray without ceasing. (1 Thess 5:17)
As a kid, I’d stay with my Grandmother Swanson. Before we went to town she’d look at all her tires, get in, and thank the Lord for her good tires.
She thanked the Lord for most everything – a true prayer warrior that knew the meaning of praying without ceasing.
