Matthew 26:74
Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.
It happened as Jesus predicted – three denials before the rooster crowed.
Peter added the curing and swearing!
Remember, Peter is a fisherman and sailor. He knows the language, as unbecoming as it is. He used it here to emphasize and stress the point he did not know Jesus.
Yet, the rooster reminded Peter who he was and awakened him to what he was doing and saying!
He cried.
I wonder in years later, if Peter heard a rooster crow he thought back to that night.
What is your rooster?
Is there anything that reminds you of a time you disappointed Christ?
Don’t grieve over it. Rather give thanks to God who forgave you and brought you away from that time and place.
