Acts 13:6-8
Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.
There are many people in the world wanting to be a person of power and influence.
Some humbly excel and become a person helping others with their position.
Others are just greedy.
Elymas is the latter.
Look at his Jewish name, Bar-Jesus, which means son of Jesus, son of Yeshua, or son of salvation.
When Saul and Barnabas start presenting the Gospel, Elymas stands against them.
Watch out for people withstanding goodness, decency, morality, virtue, and ethics.
There are people having an appearance of sheep (Bar-Jesus) but inwardly are ravenous wolves (the sorcerer) seeking to devour you.
Don’t let them.
Rebuke them in Jesus name, just like Saul did to Elymas, who went blind at that point.
