2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
I think I first read this scripture when I was around 19 years old.
I had given my life to the Lord a little more than a year earlier and then gave my life to the service of the Lord having felt a calling to preach/teach in my life.
When I read this verse I took it personally.
It was as if God was speaking to me!
I am to preach the word!
The “in season and out of season” to me means always be ready at a moments notice, whether it’s planned or not.
I recall a few years ago showing up for the funeral of a cousin. I walked up to the door a minute before the service was beginning.
One of the deacon’s (also a cousin) came up to me with panic in his face. He looked at me and said, “They didn’t call you!”
“Call me for what?” I replied.
“You’re doing the service,” he said.
And I did.
If you are a Christian you should read, study, and have some understanding of the Bible.
If you know the Bible then you should always have something to say.
Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching, or as the New Living Translation says, patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
