Reading the signs of the weather.

The wintry mix wasn’t as bad as predicted or as bad as most of us imagined it would be. Though I haven’t ventured out as of yet, I have walked around outside and taken a few “signs” of the conditions. Continue reading

Message from God

I don’t enjoy every message I hear – some are pleasant and others are not.

I may get a letter in the mail that I have won a contest or I get word that someone has been saved and baptized. That’s great news and I enjoy both. Continue reading

Many Messages

One thing that confuses many people are the mixed messages they get from those that supposedly believe the same group – Christians.

Different denominations, doctrines, and belief’s confuse a lost world, especially when each church quotes from the same book.

One group says baptism is essential to salvation and another group says it isn’t. There are the gifts of the Spirit and whether they exist today or have fulfilled their purpose. Is salvation eternal or can it be lost again. Is there only one chance of salvation in this life or do you get another opportunity after death.
Is the rapture a true event and if it is does it happen before the tribulation, during it, or after it?

No matter what you believe you can find someone that will agree with you.

This is not a unique situation. It is something that the early church had to deal with.

Paul wrote to Timothy saying,

And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. 2 Tim 2:17-18

To the Galatians he wrote,

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. Gal 1:6-7

What we don’t have is an Apostle Paul to explain things today. Even if there were there would still be false messages from others that change the message.

I don’t have that answer to all the Christian denominations except to say read the Bible for yourself. Study the message for yourself. Pray about it for yourself.

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Rom 12:18

You can’t win them all – part 5

It’s sad about those that hear the Gospel over and over and never respond to it. They can blame everyone and everything.

Judas may have had a lot of excuses for the way he was and what he did. Continue reading

You can’t win them all – part 4

I don’t know about your salvation. I don’t know how many opportunities you have had to accept God’s grace and forgiveness.

He is known as a God of second chances. Continue reading

You can’t win them all – part 3

I am by no means perfect but I know the pathway to perfection and have seen a glimpse of it. But keeping my eyes on Jesus all the time is hard in a world that keeps enticing me away.

I am not tempted by all things, yet the adversary knows what temptations will work. Continue reading

You can’t win them all – part 2

There are people with seemingly good intentions outwardly but inwardly have an ulterior motive.

This is often the case when someone places their own needs, desires, and agenda above that of others. I’ve noticed this with a few “giveaways” on the web these days. Continue reading

You can’t win them all – part 1

What do you get out of church, Sunday school, and Bible study?

Some get very much and others very little. There are those that don’t get fed in a church service and others that take lots of notes.

What you get out of it is entirely up to you.

Case in point,

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:66-69

Peter was one of twelve men that traveled with Jesus. Along with the others he witnessed miracles, heard teaching, and watched His lifestyle.
However it was Peter alone that proclaimed that Jesus was the Christ. That’s not to say the others did not think it also.

But among the twelve is one that is of a different nature.

Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” John 6:70

Knowing what Judas will do begs the question as to why he didn’t get anything from the teaching of Jesus.
How is it the others went on to preach, teach, and evangelize and Judas did not?

Let’s investigate this tragedy this week.
