When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. Josh 7:21 Continue reading
Bible Reading
What possesses you?
Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” Mark 10:21 Continue reading
In His Image
He is the image of the invisible God… Col 1:15 Continue reading
It doesn't change a thing.
And it happened, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that the king cut it with the scribe’s knife and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. Jer 36:23 Continue reading
Return to Me
Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts. Zech 1:3 Continue reading
Victory is Mine!
An East Texas school will no longer read scripture during the morning announcements. This decision comes after a formal complaint was filed with the school by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
That organization says the practice of Biblical readings is not only offensive to non-Christians, but against the law. According to the FFRF, the decision is a win.
How sad it is when removal of Christ from society is considered a victory.
Let me share my victory!
Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:57
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. 1 John 5:4
In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Rom 8:37
We sometimes sing a song in church:
Victory is mine,
victory is mine,
victory today is mine.
I told Satan to get thee behind,
victory today is mine.
The FFRF did not win – they lost!
Jesus said this and it may be a bit of a stretch but I think it’s appropriate,
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Mark 8:35-36
The message you get when you meditate on God’s word
Last night at church I made the statement that all of the Bible is inspired by God and has a message and purpose for us.
I was challenged to find purpose in Josh 12.
I’ll admit that it is a bit difficult to keep your mind on what is being read and not drift off into some other thought. But then, that may prove my point.
Josh 12 says: Continue reading
Read The 66!
The works of the LORD are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. Ps 111:2
I’m not much on reading books.
I try, I really do, but my eyes stutter when I read; sort of jumping around on the page. Continue reading
Appropriate Dress – Appropriate Thoughts
(Continued from yesterday)
I remember years ago a young Christian lady told me about her coed exercise class.
She told me what she wore, which wasn’t much.
I quoted the Timothy scripture and asked her was she worried about what kind of thoughts the men might be having.
She told me that was their problem – not hers! Continue reading
Put On Christ
Last Saturday, Linda and I worked the Texas Blueberry Festival with my coworkers.
We had a booth and gave away balloon animals and had attendees sign up for a giveaway.
The weather was hot and people dressed appropriately; lot’s of shorts, short sleeves, and less. Continue reading
