I am a child!

Last week’s church camp was a great week. I was privileged to have Jared as the other represented church in my cabin with me. Jared is also my neighbor right across the road and this was his first time to ever go to church camp. Continue reading

Priorities.

Good morning from Daniel Springs church camp.
Last night the camp pastor spoke on priorities. His illustration is well know but I’ve never seen it in person.
He had a huge jar filled with small pebbles. It represented all the things in your life that you like but are really unnecessary. Things like sports, Facebook, Instagram, fishing, and I’ll even add geocaching.

Like I said, things you enjoy but can live without.
He brought out some big rocks that represented really important things like God, family, church, and relationships.
When he put the rocks in the top of the jar they wouldn’t fit. The non-necessary things were in the way.
He brought out another empty jar. He placed the important things in first – God, family, church, and relationships.

Then he poured the pebbles in. The pebbles filled in the nooks and crannies around the rocks.

It all fit in the jar and he placed the lid on it.
Life is like that.

God doesn’t want to take sports, Facebook, Instagram, fishing, or geocaching away from you.

But He wants to be first!
It is written,

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”‭‭ Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭

If your life is so busy that you don’t have time for God, then your life is busier than God ever intended.
Get the priorities right and your life will be full of the right things.

Victory over the big sins – Victory over the smallest sins

The Mosaic Law gives a clear definition of sin. Some of those are fairly easy to distinguish like murder, adultery, lying, stealing, coveting, and dishonoring your parents – all mentioned in the Ten Commandments. Plus there are the first four concerning your relationship with God. Continue reading

The Sin Difference

Not all sin was treated the same under the Mosaic Law. Granted sin is sin and all sin is ultimately punishable by death but under the Law not all sin was given a death penalty. Continue reading

A Do-Over!

On Wednesday I was walking four miles and getting my daily exercise, really pouring on some speed, when I over-flexed my left big toe.
It made it difficult to finish my walk. Continue reading

Do not bow – do not bend!

It didn’t take long. The ink is just barely dry on the majority decision when I saw this from a church just about 2 hours south of me. This appeared on my Facebook wall –

I got my first request to perform wedding for a gay couple this morning. I politely declined. Continue reading

A divisive person

No matter what you say he’s going to say the opposite. You don’t dare talk about politics around him. No matter what the subject is he is going to add his two cents to the conversation. He will butt into the conversation just to tell you what he thinks. Continue reading

You should be offended!

You’ll probably not see many more Confederate flags flying soon.

South Carolina will remove it from flying over the capitol building. Retail stores will probably stop carrying it on merchandise. Continue reading
