Dressed for battle.

And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze. And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. 1 Sam 17:4-6

The giant soldier, clad in armor, launched a verbal attack against the people of God. Continue reading

Be Gentle

But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2 Tim 2:23-26

I am no expert but I really try to avoid spiritual and secular arguments. I have never liked conflict and disputes. Continue reading

Elijah was quite a prophet; an awesome man of God that stood against the king, queen, and the idolatry of a nation. Continue reading

Discipline

Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Matt 5:37

The evil one is intent on evil. He wants to cause confusion and harm. He desires misunderstanding and a commotion.
Such is the case in something I read this morning on Facebook. Continue reading

Wrong is wrong no matter who does it.

Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. Gal 2:11-13

I have often thought of this scripture. In Bible college I wrote a paper on Galatians and gained some in depth understanding. Continue reading

Harsh words

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matt 7:21-23

Do you ever worry about being one of those that say, “Lord, Lord”? Continue reading
